ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Complete each year in high school with a cumulative GPA equal to or greater than
a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or an 80 on a 100-point scale.
Graduate from a participating high school college-ready as defined by the state of Texas
Note: early graduates are eligible as long as all other requirements are met.
PERSISTENCE
Five (5) days or fewer of unexcused absences during the second semester of freshman year.
Ten (10) days or fewer of unexcused absences during each year, sophomore through senior.
Complete the required number of credits to advance to the next class level each year.
Must be on track by end of sophomore year.
No more than one (1) disciplinary action that results in a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) as defined by the Texas Education Code
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Submit a total of 25 community service hours by April 30th of your senior year.
Community service is defined as participation in the community outside of school. Service hours are on a volunteer basis and do not include activities where the student is a participant (i.e. community sports leagues) or where he or she receives any type of compensation. This includes monetary compensation, service hours performed to earn extra credit for a class grade or to earn a reward such as a trip, prize or other non-monetary gift. The only exception is any service activity associated with the Boy/Girl Scouts or similar organizations whereby the student is recognized with a badge or similar type of award or recognition.
RESIDENCE
Must attend at least two full academic years at a participating high school within the TJC tax district. Students attending a private or charter school must also reside within the TJC taxing district.
